Fashion and Film: The Duchess

I have to start this post out by saying that I don't know much about British history during the era The Duchess is set in (despite getting a 4 on my AP European History exam) but one does not have to understand all of the political nuances of an era to appreciate good clothes. And what really gets me excited in this movie is the hats! I'm a hat loving gal and this film does not disappoint!

I think this is perhaps my favorite ensemble. I love all of the button details and the fur and the dash of feathers in case it wasn't exciting enough yet.

I love here that the hat doesn't so much match as go. And the striped skirt is fabulous.

I'm just drooling over these tiled hats. The tilt really shows of the trimmings and makes one look (and, I assume, feel) impressive.

No hat here, but look at her hair! I can't imaging walking, let alone dancing with such a creation atop my head.

Do you have a favorite period whose head wear makes your heart go pitter-patter?
